The Mount Vernon Marching Mustangs returned to march in the nation’s capital, roughly 41 years since the last time they previously marched in the nation’s capital.
Directed by Scott Weber, the trek to Washignton D.C. was the cap for the marching band season for 2023. The band marched in rainy weather as part of a national parade Monday, May 29, the only band from the state of Iowa making that trek.
Students also had opportunities to visit several landmarks, including Arlington National Cemetery where they witnessed the changing of the guard, the White House, Washington Memorial, Lincoln Memorial.
