The Lisbon girls varsity golf team took part in the 2023 IGHSAU 3A girls golf state tournament at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls last Thursday and Friday.
The team placed sixth overall with a total team score of 724. First place Gilbert shot a 653.
Eden Lohrbach of Gilbert turned in the lowest score of the tournament, with a 143 total.
Lisbon’s own Kaylie Kelchen was the highest-placing Lion at the event, turning in a 157 for a fourth-place finish.
Karlee Luneckas placed 35th in the tight contest with a two-day score of 185.
Eryn Jackson turned in a score of 189 for a 40th-place finish.
Brooke Ellyson came in at 48 with a score of 193 over the two days of competition.
“With the site change this year to Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, we were a little less familiar with the course,” said Lions head coach Andy Kahl.
“There were a lot of high quality golfers participating, and the girls should feel good about their results. Kaylie played really solid both days, and it showed with her fourth-place finish individually. I’m so proud of their efforts,” Kahl said.
“This group of girls was really fun to coach.”
