Todd Evans, 47, of Cedar Rapids, was killed in a crash with a train in rural Lisbon Friday, May 12, at 1:36 p.m.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Evans attempted to cross the railroad crossing along 115th Street in a 2016 Mack Truck. An eastbound train engineered by Steve Nicholson, 66, of Davenport, was passing by at that time, striking the driver’s side of Evans vehicle.
Evans was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Mount Vernon-Lisbon police department, Lisbon-Mount Vernon Ambulance Service, Lisbon Fire Department, Mount Vernon Fire Department, Mechanicsville Fire Department and the Iowa Department of Transportation at the crash scene.
