Cornell first-year competitors Thomas Coble and LaQuanta Crawford picked up all-conference medals during the final day of the Midwest Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Grinnell College.
Coble placed third out of 13 finishers in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 9:57.07. He edged Ripon’s Christian Kuwaye by .54 seconds to earn top-three all-conference status.
Crawford also landed a spot on the podium, placing third in the high jump. He cleared 6 feet, 1.50 inches and won a tiebreaker over Beloit’s Michael Myles for third based on a fewer misses.
Austin Wilkins scored team points in both of Saturday’s hurdle events in his MWC debut. The first-year finished fifth in the 110 hurdles (17.42) and took eighth in the 400 hurdles (1:02.23).
Junior Doniel Greiner advanced to the 100 finals and placed sixth with a mark of 11.35. He ran leadoff on the sixth-place 4×100 relay (44.00) that included Gavin Soukup, Nathan Watters and Jaxin McGuire.
Fisher Isaacson crossed fifth in the 800 (1:57.35) and anchored the 4×400 relay of McGuire, Currey Jacobs and Watters to a fifth-place time of 3:29.12. Tyler Bilskie was eighth in the 5000 (16:15.81).
The Rams placed seventh in the final team standings with 53 points.
Ripon posted a winning score of 193 points, followed by Grinnell in second with 149.
