More than 50 volunteers and individuals made quick work cleaning up the uptown Saturday, April 29, as part of the Polish It! Day to get the streets and areas ready for Chalk the Walk and other festivals this summer. Projects included work in Memorial Park, the parking lots in uptown Mount Vernon, Hilltop Park and parking spaces in front of area businesses.
As well, mayor Tom Wieseler was holding rain barrel pick-ups from the Linn County Sustainability project.
Christian Andrews and Paul Fugate work on flower beds along First Avenue as part of clean-up day in uptown Mount Vernon.
