Mount Vernon High School is hosting the WaMaC East Art Show. On Saturday, April 15, the artworks from artists from Marion, Solon, Independence, West Delaware and Mount Vernon, were on display and open to the public at the art show. The exhibit featured the top 120 pieces of art from students, including drawings, painting, mixed media, printmaking, design, photography and ceramics.
An event for all the artists was also held Wednesday, April 19, at Mount Vernon Schools, with the first through third prize pieces awarded, as well as artist’s choice and best in show awards announced. Laurie Zaiger was the guest speaker at Wednesday’s event, with “I Wish I Had Made More Bad Art and Other Confessions.” Results from the art show placement and visits with some of the student artists are planned for the April 27 issue of the Sun.
Sculpture and glass work were some of the art categories at the event.
