Youth Basketball campLisbon Lions Basketball Association will be holding a youth basketball camp June 12 — 16 at Lisbon Early Childcare gymnasium, for youth entering alternative kindergarten through eighth grade.
Camps will be held from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. for AK through second graders, 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. for third through fifth graders and 10:30 a.m. to noon for sixth through eighth graders.
Cost is $30 for AK through second graders and $40 for third through eighth graders. There is a discount for families with siblings.
Registration for the camp is due by Wednesday, May 17, to guarantee a t-shirt.
Basketball Camp will focus on providing knowledge of shooting, dribbling, passing, footwork with offensive and defensive fundamentals. We will focus on transferable skills, model work ethic and good sportsmanship while enjoying the game of basketball.
Athletes should wear t-shirt, shorts, socks and shoes to camps, and bring water bottles and basketballs if they have one.

coach pitch sign up Registration for Mount Vernon and Lisbon’s intro to T-ball, T-ball, coach pitch and third through sixth grade baseball teams are now open.
Forms for Lisbon’s teams are available at cityoflisbon-ia.gov or available in person at City Hall.
Forms for Mount Vernon are available at the Lester Buresh Family Community Wellness Center, or available at https://mtvernon.recdesk.com/Community/Program/ and look for the grade of students that are registering.
Registration deadline for the clubs in both towns are Friday, April 28. No registrations will be taken after April 28.
Coaches meetings will take place at Mount Vernon City Hall at the beginning of May.

Drug takeback day The Wellness coalition of Rural Linn County will hold a DEA Drug take back event Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lisbon City Hall. If you have any expired medications that need to be disposed of, bring them to this event. For this event only, the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department will be taking any sharps/needles and syringes that need to be safely disposed of as well.
Dance Arts Iowa RecitalDance Arts Iowa spring recital “Lights, Camera, Dance!” is coming Sunday, May 14. The recital will be at the Performing Arts Center at Mount Vernon Schools at 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. The showcase will feature performances form numerous levels of dancers in the organization.
