The Mount Vernon-Lisbon girls soccer team fell to 1-2 early in the season, with a loss and a win last week and a loss the previous week to Iowa City Liberty.
Thursday, April 6
The season kicked off with an 8-0 loss to the visiting Iowa City Liberty. Mustangs goalie Cano Safo, a sophomore, had 19 saves in the effort.
Tuesday, April 11
The team hosted the Solon Spartans Tuesday, losing 2-0. Goalie Cana Safo had 12 saves in the effort.
Thursday, April 13The Mustangs fared better two nights later as they played host to Cedar Rapids Washington.
The home team scored four goals in the first half of the contest, and two more in the second. Washington managed one goal in the second, going on to lose 6-1.
Mount Vernon-Lisbon’s goals came courtesy of Kennedy Moore, Isabelle Logue, Courtney Franck, Emara Perreault, Addison Mullis, and Clare Nydegger.
Safo had five saves in the team’s win.
