The Lisbon varsity boys track and field team notched a first-place finish in their first outdoor meet of the season in West Delaware.
The Lions, coached by Lonnie Speidel, captured the top place with 163 points. Oelwein and Independence were second and third, with scores of 114 and 106, respectively. Eight teams competed in all.
Earning first place for the Lions were Baylor Speidel in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.21 and 23.15 in the 200 meter dash, the 4×100 meter relay squad of Tiernan Boots, Luke Czarnecki, Quinn Coleman and Baylor Speidel with a time of 44.91, the 4×400 meter relay squad of Dakota Clark, Ben Morningstar, Cole Butteris and Michael Gadberry with a time of 3:45.22, the 800 sprint medley squad of Boots, Coleman, Reid Fridley and Gage Holub with the time of 1:44.76, the distance medley relay squad of Boots, Clark, Gadberry and Junior Krob with a time of 3:51.39, the 4×110 meter shuttle hurdle relay squad of Holub, Czarnecki, Riley Stone and Morningstar with a time of 1:07.752 and Czarnecki in the high jump with a leap of six feet.
Jonah Reiling placed second in the shotput with a throw of 44 feet two inches.
The squad also had third place finishes from Brody Speidel in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.00, Krob in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:05.00, Wesley Sadler in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:47.06, Czarnecki in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.01, the 4×800 meter relay squad of Brody Speidel, Aiden Morill, Lucas Capron and Caleb Snyder with a time of 10:26.78 and Reiling with a 113 foot five inch discus throw.
The team is next scheduled to travel to Davenport Saturday, Apr. 8, where they will take on Davenport Assumption.
