The Cornell women’s lacrosse team dropped their match Saturday afternoon to the Eagles of UW-Stout, 17-4.
The Eagles (4-2) hot start consisted of six runs in the first quarter to the Rams’ (5-4) one. Freshman Brynn Miroslavich scored her 12th goal of the season at the three-minute mark as the Rams trailed 6-1 after one quarter.
Junior Anna Methe scored an unassisted goal at 6:14 in the second for the Rams’ second goal of the game. Five goals in the second quarter by the Eagles vaulted them to an 11-2 lead over the Rams.
Tremendous defense in the third quarter held the Eagles to only one goal behind three saves by freshman goalie Hannah Miech. The Rams were down 12-2 heading into the fourth quarter.
Goals by freshman Sabrina Ibanez and sophomore Cece Zanoni in the fourth weren’t enough as the Eagles responded with five goals to win 17-4 to hand the Rams their fourth loss of the year.
Miroslavich, Zanoni, Methe, and Ibanez each finished with one goal. Junior India Smith finished with five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Miech finished with nine saves in the loss.
Britta Nelson finished with four goals for the Eagles.
