The new projector for the Bijou Movie Theatre arrived and was installed Tuesday, March 14.
For co-owner Chris Moore, it was a great birthday present to have a new projector back in house, ready to show movies again.
That being said, the theatre has a few smaller pieces of equipment to purchase this week to work with the new projector and be completely ready for movies.
As well as a new projector, the theatre also purchased a new movie screen and drapes.
Moore said the first movie that they will hopefully be having a nation premier/first run of will be Illumination Animation’s “Super Mario Brothers Movie.”
“Hudsyn has been really wanting to see that movie and is so upset that it isn’t out in theatres right now,” Moore said.
As well, the Bijou just launched their GoFundMe campaign to help purchase the new projector.
“We wanted to wait until this projector was finally in place so people wouldn’t be worried that we had collected money and not had it installed yet,” Moore said.
The delay for the theatre has been exacerbated by the silicone chip shortage in China over the last two years.
There will be a few other movies before Super Mario Brothers hits the Bijou screen, but Moore wasn’t sure what those would be as they work on replacing an older computer to help run items on the new projector.
The projector uses lasers to display images on the screen.
Sonic Equipment helped with the installation Monday and Tuesday in the community, and Friday was the day drapes were installed.
