The Cornell women’s lacrosse team lost to Pacific University Wednesday, 8-6, at Hanson Stadium.
In the first quarter, the Rams (5-3) responded to a pair of goals by the Boxers (2-7) with a pair of their own in a free position goal by freshman Brynn Miroslavich and an unassisted goal by sophomore Cece Zanoni with less than a minute remaining to tie the game.
The Boxers would score three straight goals stretching from the first quarter going into the second to take a 5-2 lead over the Rams.
Zanoni secured her second goal of the game in the second quarter to bring the Rams within two. With only 16 seconds left in the half, the Rams ran an offensive setup that allowed freshman Sabrina Ibanez to get into position and score. The Rams closed in on the Boxers’ lead, only down 6-4 after one half.
Two goals were scored in the third quarter by the Rams as Zanoni notched her third goal and sophomore Meg Lewis scored the last goal of the quarter at the 30-second mark. The Rams went into the fourth quarter only down one, 7-6.
The Rams were held scoreless in the fourth only attempting three shots, as the Boxers added a goal at the 6:14 mark to ice the game against the Rams, 8-6.
Zanoni finished with three goals to lead the team on four shots. Lewis had one goal, four groundballs, and two draw controls. Miroslaivch accumulated one goal, two ground balls, and two draw controls. Ibanez finished with one goal for the Rams.

A collected Ram effort, wasn’t enough to combat the hot start by the Warriors.
The Rams saw themselves behind 5-2 after one quarter after the Warriors (1-1) jumped out to an early lead. Unassisted goals by junior Cheyenne Greenenwald and freshman Sabrina Ibanez allowed the Rams to stay competitive heading into the second quarter.
Junior Anna Methe scored a woman-down goal at the 8:40 mark in the second quarter as freshman Brynn Miroslavich’s ended the half with a free position goal with 19 seconds left. Five goals tallied by the Warriors catapulted them to a 10-4 lead at halftime.
Greenenwald and Methe each scored a goal in the second half for the Rams. Greenenwald’s goal came at 9:31 in the third and Methe’s coming at 10:09 in the fourth.
Even with two Rams having a multi-goal night, they lost after Jillian Phillips and Sydney Davis of Corban (Ore.) had six goals each to have 12 of the 18 goals scored by the Warriors.
Ram goalies, freshman Hannah Miech and sophomore Kathryn Andries, each had identical stat lines in the loss with each accumulating five saves while allowing nine goals.
