Cornell’s women’s lacrosse team struck for three unanswered goals to start Wednesday’s game and never looked back in a 9-5 victory over Edgewood.
The Rams (2-1) used a balanced offensive attack that outshot the home team, 27-14, to earn their first road win of the season.
Leading scorer Cece Zanoni paced the Rams again with two goals and a pair of assists. Anna Methe and Brynn Miroslavich also recorded two goals apiece, while Hailey Sieler and Cheyenne Greenenwald each netted one.
Kathryn Andries and Hannah Miech both worked 30 minutes at goalie. Andries earned the win, holding the Eagles to one first-half goal. Miech posted five saves in the second half.
Miroslavich scored twice during Cornell’s 3-0 opening run. The Rams stretched the lead to 6-2 on Zanoni’s eighth goal of the season with 11:13 remaining in regulation. Cornell held on comfortably to the end.
The Rams gathered 31 ground balls, including six from Sieler. Claire Chekytis added five ground balls. Methe, the reigning MWLC Defensive Performer of the Week, led all players with four caused turnovers, followed by Alexis Partida with three.
