It was another great year for local wrestlers at the state wrestling meet.
The Mount Vernon wrestling team placed third overall at the meet, with six wrestlers placing at the state meet. Jase Jaspers was a runner-up at state at the 126 pound division.
Jase wasn’t the only Jaspers recognized at the state meet. His dad, Kyle, was awarded with a trophy as junior high wrestling coach of the year.
Lisbon had two champion wrestlers at the meet, as well as others who placed at the meet. Brandon Paez earned his third state championship and Wyatt Smith also took the 285 pound crown to lead off Lisbon’s wrestlers. Several others placed at the meet.
