City of LisbonThe City of Lisbon has set the only road where UTVS are not allowed as Business 30.
Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police chief Doug Shannon noted there is a block between Washington and Jackson Streets where UTVs are allowed to utilize Business 30, but that is to allow access to Casey’s General Store (for fueling UTVs) and Whitey’s (a local restaurant)
The choice to restrict UTVs from Business 30 is due to the higher speed limit on that road and the hills between Mount Vernon and Lisbon.
“State code allows the UTVS to travel at 35 miles per hour on roadways, and this keeps the UTVs on roads where 35 is the top speed limit in these communities,” Shannon said.
The City of Mount Vernon and Lisbon made changes to the UTV ordinances to bring them in line with the new state rules, as well as letting any changes to roads be made via resolution as opposed to having three readings for changes.
