“Water Quality in Iowa: Where do we go from here?” is the title of a presentation being offered 10-11:30 am, Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, in the Community Room at the Lester Buresh Center in Mount Vernon. The event, sponsored by the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Chapter of Iowa Women for Water, is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
A conversation regarding the state of Iowa’s surface and drinking water will be led by Dr. Mary Skopec, Executive Director of the Iowa Lakeside Laboratory. Dr. Skopec has been widely recognized for her extensive research on water quality in Iowa. She is a member of the National Water Quality Monitoring Council and the National Advisory Committee on Water.
Iowa Women for Water (www.iowawomenforwater.org) is a bipartisan network of women who care about water quality and the pollution of Iowa’s rivers, lakes and streams. “Women have been too far removed from conversations around water quality. It’s time to raise our voices. Every Iowan deserves access to clean water,” says Laura Krouse, a local member of Women for Water, a farmer and commissioner of the Linn Soil & Water Conservation District.
