Freshman 157-pounder Gabriel Smith and fifth-year wrestler Casey Allen (165) both placed at the Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational hosted by Wheaton University Friday and Saturday.
Smith (27-10) went 4-1 to grab second place in his bracket after dropping a 7-4 decision to No. 15-ranked Patrick McGraw of John Carroll University in the finals. Among his wins were a major decision and a fall.
Allen (11-2) secured fourth after winning five matches across the two-day event. After losing in the quarterfinal round on Day 1, Allen won three in a row to battle for third place, before medical forfeiting his last match.
The Rams placed ninth out of 31 total teams in a stacked event that saw a ranked wrestler in each weight class, including Cornell fifth-year Jacob Sherzer ranked 15th at 174 and Allen ranked 11th at 165, by the NWCA.
