The Nourishing Root Café and Coffee Shop, 100 1st St. SW, has scheduled a public reception to unveil the completed “Painting a Day” art installation by Chris Childers.
Childers, a recent transplant to Mount Vernon from Minneapolis, used the project to document his first full January as a resident of Eastern Iowa, and to raise money and awareness for the Lisbon-Mount Vernon Ambulance Service (LMVAS).
“I chose LMVAS to partner with because two of my friends and neighbors here in Mount Vernon benefitted recently from the local ambulance service,” said Childers. “I know first-hand what a valuable service this is and wanted to help ensure its continued success.”
The Nourishing Root will offer its full menu of food and drinks during the reception.
