The Lisbon Speech team will be advancing all but one of their groups to the state contest Saturday, Feb. 4, at Cedar Rapids Washington.
The group competed at district contests at Monticello Saturday, Feb. 17.
Earning Division I ratings and advancing to state were: choral reading presentation of “Until the Last Rail Rusts” with John Broulik, Ava Cossolotto, Maeve Krogmann, Allie Silver, Faith Miller, Ben Jubeck, Chris Ricke, Lynnlee Caspers and Sawyer Feldman; short film “Subject to Change” with Broulik, Nathan Ricke, Cossolotto, Morgan Kelley, Gretchen Moehlman, Chris Ricke, Feldman, Brody Speidel, Bryce Boots, Alina Mallie and Caleb Ross; group mime “In Grandma’s Attic” with Nicole Hasselbusch, Sam Cooley, Kaitlyn Silver and Emersyn Reiter; musical theatre piece “The Addams Family” with Gavin Reinken, Wahlstrom, Bennet Cart and Bartels; group improvisation starring Reinken, Cooley, Cart and Kelley; ensemble acting piece “The Elf on a Shelf Must Die” with with Hasselbusch, Wahlstrom, Krogmann, Jubeck and Bartels; television news piece “The TMRW Show” with Alex Bock, Brayden Boots, Peyton Robinson, Blair Baltes, Ben Morningstar, Cohen Kamaus, Ryan Ross, Kaden Caspers, Kali Nelson, Hunter Clark, Brody Speidel, Baylor Speidel, Kennedy Baxa, Teague Krob and Indy Harbaugh.
Earning a Division II rating at district was readers’ theatre piece “How To Kill a Mockingbird” with Kolsie Bixler, Madison Flockhart, Kaitlyn Silver, Alexa Roos, Addie Clark, Kamryn Kahl, Kayla Ries, Avery Long and Lohgan Anderson.
Conference meetLisbon speech participated in the Tri-Rivers Conference Speech contest Saturday, Jan. 14.
The choral reading presentation of “Until the Last Rail Rusts” was named best in center and earned a Division I rating.
Short film “Subject to Change” was also named best in center and earned a Division I rating.
Group mime “In Grandma’s Attic” placed second and had a Division I rating.
The musical theatre piece “The Addams Family” placed second and earned a Division II rating.
Group improvisation starring Reinken, Cooley, Cart and Kelley placed third and earned a Division I rating.
Readers’ theatre piece “How To Kill a Mockingbird” placed third and earned a Division II rating.
Ensemble acting piece “The Elf on a Shelf Must Die” earned third place and a Division I rating.
The television news piece “The TMRW Show” earned a Division II rating.
