A number of local entities will be closed for the Martin Luther King, Jr., federal holiday.
Mount Vernon and Lisbon Schools will both be closed.
The Mount Vernon city council meeting originally scheduled for Monday, Jan. 16, will instead be held Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon City Hall.
The council made the decision to move the council meeting due to the holiday. While the day is not a staff holiday for the city of Mount Vernon, it is a federal holiday and the decision to move the council meeting was held to allow people opportunities to attend events scheduled for that day.
Most Linn County governmental offices will be closed. Normal business hours will resume Tuesday, Jan. 17.
The following services will continue to operate:
• Juvenile Detention and Diversion Services
• Mental Health Access Center
• Linn County LIFTS will be running abbreviated routes with no rural service.
• The Sheriff’s Office will be closed; however, continuous operations will be available for routine and emergency responses. This includes the Patrol Division, Communications Division and the Correctional Center. In an emergency, always dial 911.
Vehicle registrations can be renewed online at any time at www.iowataxandtags.org.
