The Lisbon varsity boys basketball crew hosted the North Cedar Knights last Tuesday, Dec. 20, in what would prove to be the home team’s sole game of the week, and its last for nearly two weeks.
The Lions rose to the occasion, defeating their guests by a score of 67-56.
Michael Gadberry, led the team in scoring with 23 points. The Lisbon junior averages nearly 19 points per game. Gadberry also contributed eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
Luke Czarnecki piled on with 22 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and a block.
Dillon Brayton brought seven points to the effort, as well as three assists.
Sophomore Grayson Wollum nabbed six boards, two blocks, and a steal. Cohen Kamaus, a senior, chipped in with seven assists.
“I thought we played well for the majority of the night,” said Lions head coach Levi Montague. “We have struggled during the second and third quarter so far this season, so it was nice to get some momentum in the third and score 28 points.
“We didn’t settle for as many outside shots. We were effective inside the paint scoring against their zone. North Cedar did a nice just making us move and adjust our positioning in half court defense,” Montague said.
“It was a nice game moving into break.”
The win improved the team’s record to 4-4 overall going into winter break
