Linn County Public Health offers tips for a healthy holiday season
With influenza, RSV, COVID-19, and other respiratory illnesses present in our community, it is important to keep you and your loved one’s health in mind when gathering with others this holiday season.
“The holiday season is an exciting time for many individuals within our community,” said Dr. Pramod Dwivedi, Linn County Public Health Director. “However, it is also important to continue gathering in safe ways to minimize exposure to illnesses and keep those around you healthy.”
Linn County Public Health reminds the local community of the following precautions aimed at keeping you and those around you safe and healthy, particularly among the newborn, elderly, and immunocompromised populations. These precautions can be easily remembered by keeping in mind the 3C’s:
Cover your cough and/or sneeze with a tissue or your elbow
Contain germs by staying home when sick or experiencing symptoms of an illness
Clean hands often with soap and water, or hand sanitizer if soap and water are unavailable
Additionally, individuals ages 6 months and older should remain up to date with COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations.
If you or someone you know are experiencing illness, please consider gathering virtually through Zoom, FaceTime, or other video conferencing tools to avoid spreading illness to others.
If you need medical care over the holidays, please consider your symptoms when deciding where to go. For any further questions about where to receive care or illnesses, please contact the Linn County Public Health Clinic at (319) 892-6093.
