The Lisbon boys basketball crew saw mixed results last week, dropping a home decision to Marquette Catholic on Tuesday before seizing a victory at Springville for a key road win two nights later. The win put the Lions at 3-2 overall.
Tuesday, Dec. 6
The boys first hosted Marquette, jumping ahead early with a 17-13 lead after the first period. It would be both Lisbon’s highest-scoring quarter, and Marquette Catholic’s lowest.
Marquette sprung back in the second, out-maneuvering the home team 20-8, and taking a 33-25 lead into the half.
Sophomore Grayson Wollum led the Lions in scoring with 20 points, tying with Marquette’s Spencer Roeder, also a sophomore. Wollum added seven rebounds and a blocked shot to his performance.
Cohen Kamaus contributed nine points, going three-of-four from behind the arc. The senior had three assists, as well.
Luke Czarnecki put in five points, while grabbing four rebounds. Dillon Brayton had four boards, also.
Michael Gadberry led both teams in assists with eight assists.
Marquette came back from halftime outgunning the home team 20-13 and 21-13 in the third and fourth quarters, putting more and more distance between the pair until the visitors won 74-51.
Thursday, Dec. 8 The Lions challenged the Springville Orioles on the road last Thursday, coming out ahead 65-53 in an important road win for Lisbon.
Junior Lisbon guard Michael Gadberry was key to the effort with 28 points, five rebounds, and three blocks.
Luke Czarnecki was again pivotal, scoring 15 points, and nabbing 13 boards. The senior added two blocks.
Cade Sheda, a senior, was the top-scorer for Springville, connecting for 24 points.
