Long-time volunteer Steven Miller will be acknowledged on a sign coming to Bunting Field.
The sign will designate the park at Bunting Field as Miller Ball Park at Bunting Field.
Several parents and coaches of Lisbon softball players wanted Miller’s commitment for the past several decades to be recognized at the fields.
“Steve has been involved in the maintenance of Bunting Field since the 1990s, helping with mowing, weed eating and other care needed at the diamond,” explained Drayton Kamberling, Lisbon Parks and Recreation director. “These parents wanted to add something to the park to reflect all the years of dedication and service that Steve has put into the park.”
Bob Bunting, Lisbon softball head coach, has also been on board with this new sign.
“I know Steve has been helping at the ball diamonds for almost as long as Bob has been out there coaching,” said councilmember Nathan Smith.
Many on the council noted as well that the fields would not look as nice without the care that Miller puts into them in the season.
Members of the Lisbon parents will pay for the installation of the new sign on top of the scoreboard at Bunting Field, with an estimate of $1,150 for the total cost.
