Violinist Miera Kim and cellist Carey Bostian–Red Cedar Chamber Music’s directors and core ensemble–will perform Fresh Folk, a free concert in Lisbon Heritage Hall (above the Lisbon Library) on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. The program consists of folk music from around the world in the first of a series of programs commissioning new settings of folk music.
Red Cedar has always loved exploring different genres of music in their programming. With this in mind, they began an ongoing commissioning project. For this concert program six proposals were accepted and six new works–from Brazil, Finland, Scotland, Ukraine, the American West the Czech Republic and the Phillipines–will be premiered.
The concert, sponsored in part by the Friends of Lisbon Public Library, is free and open to the public.
