The Lions varsity squad climbed last week from 7-1 to 14-1, easily topping the Tri-Rivers East conference.
Thursday, Sept. 8The Lisbon Lions took on the Central City Wildcats on the road, returning home winners.
Lisbon took the contest in three straight matches, 26-24, 25-22, and 25-19.
Kali Nelson delivered 23 assists and three ace serves for the night.
Ava Czarnecki came up with 13 kills, while Peyton Robinson provided 24 digs and 11 kills to set a new record of 808 career kills. Most fans on the Lions’ side of the court held up signs reading “808” after a Robinson kill in the second set to recognize the achievement.
The win improved the Lions to 8-1.
Saturday, Sept. 10
Two days later, the Lions took on the Turkey Valley Trojans at the Kepros Invitational, winning handily 21-8 and 21-11.
Lisbon went on to defeat North Fayette Valley, Clayton Ridge, Waukon, Crestwood, and Waukon once again in the championship round to win the entire invitational.
