Cornell first-year students arrived at campus Wednesday, Aug. 24, for orientation activities and getting to know one another opportunities at Cornell College.
The orientation weekend concluded with an opportunity to get to know the Mount Vernon and Lisbon communities, kicking off with a community service project throughout the community.
Cleaning up parks, helping Mount Vernon-Lisbon community theatre get their outdoor stage ready for this fall’s Shakespeare show, helping at the Mount Vernon Fire Department and cleaning up around area churches and other areas of these communities were held.
The day culminated in a picnic lunch at Memorial Park catered by Bon Appetit, and then students were sent to explore uptown Mount Vernon as part of the Viva Mount Vernon event, where they got to learn even more about area businesses and community organizations in the Mount Vernon and Lisbon communities.
Welcome back, Cornell!
