Lisbon School Board president Jen Caspers presented a statement clarifying the board’s action on the activity inquiry during the July 13 school board meeting.
“It is important you know when concerns regarding the activity fund were brought to our attention, we swiftly took action and requested a special audit from our local auditor Kay Chapman,” Caspers said. “In addition, prior to his retirement, Mr. Hocking followed the advice of our legal counsel and was in contact with the state auditor’s office on behalf of the school district.”
The matter is now being investigated by the state auditor’s office.
“Our local auditor is working with the state auditor’s office on additional review and oversight of our records and will advise us on next steps,” Caspers said. “We will continue to follow the advice of our legal counsel, remain transparent, and keep the board updated as we go through this process.
“The Lisbon School board has been and will continue to be committed to integrity of process, being a good steward of district and community resources, and making sound decisions on behalf of our students.”
