Linn County has been awarded Federal funds made available through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency. Linn County anticipates that it will receive approximately $85,590 under Phase 39 and approximately $263,352 under ARPAR of the “Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program” (EFSP) to supplement / extend emergency food and shelter programs within the county.
The Linn County Local Homeless Coordinating Board will determine how EFSP funds awarded to Linn County are to be distributed among local emergency food and shelter programs. Due to limited EFSP funding, the Local Board has established the following funding priorities and will limit its use to the following activities during this phase:
- Food (such as hot meals (mass feeding)) or
- Emergency shelter and lodging (mass shelter).
Eligible applicants and those selected to receive funds must:
- Be private voluntary organizations that are non-profits or units of government;
- Be eligible to receive Federal funds;
- Have an approved accounting system;
- Practice non-discrimination;
- Have demonstrated the capability to provide emergency food and / or shelter programs;
- And, if a private not-for-profit, have a voluntary board.
