Chocolate StrollThe Chocolate Stroll is Saturday, June 4, in Mount Vernon. The event offers many opportunities for art and art events, including the Chocolate Stroll Film Festival at the Bijou at 10:30 a.m., local musicians performing at the Mount Vernon Bank tiny park from 10 a.m. to noon, and the possibility of a flash mob demonstration. There will also be kids games and activities at Memorial Day park, a chocolate making demonstration, and the Point 5K (one third of a mile) fun run/stroll at noon at Memorial Park.
Portrayal of Mount Vernon Awards night The Portrayal of Mount Vernon Awards will be presented Sunday, June 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mount Vernon creates. Along with the awards for the artists taking part in the Portrayal of Mount Vernon, Iowa Poet Laureate Debra Marquardt will present a poem “Sounding Our Place” at the event. The Portrayal of Mount Vernon Art exhibition will last until June 30 at Mount Vernon Creates.
