The Mount Vernon-Lisbon varsity girls’ soccer squad ended their regular season Tuesday, May 17, conference champions with a 16-1 record. Trailing the Mustangs for most of the season was second-place Solon.
The team nabbed a 4-0 win on the road at Marion, their 15th win in a row.
Senior standout Maia Bentley was again instrumental in the victory, as she pulled off yet another hat trick, providing three goals. Teammate Anna Hoffman, also a senior, came up with the other goal.
“The team is really looking forward to next week,” said head coach Jenna Hindman of their first playoff game this past Tuesday.
Hindman said the crew was “excited for playoffs” and a “chance to prove ourselves.”
“The team has become close over the last 10 weeks. I think they are ready to go out there and play for each other,” she said.
