The Mount Vernon boys and girls track seasons drew to a close last weekend, with the boys placing 17th in Class 3A.
“It was a great weekend for us,” said Mustangs boys track head coach Ryan Whitman.
“It started off great with the 4×8, and then the ending on Saturday with the 4×4 was fantastic,” Whitman said, referring to the boys 4×400 team placing first in preliminaries with a season best record.
“It was so exciting to see our 4×4 run like that and win by almost four full seconds. It was just a great way to end the weekend,” said Whitman.
The 4×400 squad were state champions for Mount Vernon, consisting of Jensen Meeker, Zach Fall, Brady Erickson and Owen Brase.
The 4×800 meter squad of Fall, Meeker, Alex Fencl and Carson Sansenbach placed fifth at the state meet.
