The council also approved a bid from Cy’s Tree Service for removal of trees in the cemetery. Cy’s new bid was lower than his last bid because of measures Cy’s had taken if removal was needed when the ground was soft and wet.
“Since he can wait until the ground firms up a little more to remove these trees, he can knock a few days off the work and not have to put some of the padding he was going to put down, as the ground will be firmer,” Lisbon city administrator Brandon Siggins explained. “That’s why there’s a significant difference in his two bid prices.”
The council had three additional bids on the project, but two of the bids were incomplete.
Public works director Travis Bagby explained that the bid does reflect stump grinding, but that is being done by those bidding the project, as the stumps are in the way of removing additional trees and them removal helps the project move faster.
Public works crews will grind the fifth and final stump once the project is completed, noting the proximity to a headstone.
