Lisbon History Center is having lead paint removed from the western exterior wall.
It’s a project that the Lisbon Historic Preservation Commission has been wanting to happen for several years now, but has been working to collect donations from a number of partners to complete.
The commission received grants from Linn County Community and Economic Development Program, as well as additional funding from the City of Lisbon and Lisbon History Center Foundation to complete the work.
Lisbon City Council and Lisbon Historic Preservation Commission discussed the project in February, when the council approved their portion of funding for the project.
Removal of the paint will allow better evaluation of the condition of the brick underneath, and if there are problem areas, the City of Lisbon and Lisbon Historic Preservation Commission will decide what repairs are needed.
Bi-State Masonry received the bid for the removal of the paint on the brick exterior wall.
The work is part of phase 2 rehabilitation plans for the Lisbon History Center building.
