Easter is on its way, and this year it’s returning with some in person events.
It’s a complete difference from Easter in 2020, when churches and communities were more distanced.
Saturday, April 15, the Mount Vernon Fire Department will kick off the weekend with the group’s annual pancake breakfast. The breakfast helps the department raise funds for additional gear or training.
The Mount Vernon Easter Egg Dash will also be returning Saturday at Mount Vernon High School Track (rain location is Mount Vernon Middle School). After one year where the event was canceled, and the distanced Easter Egg hunt last year at Mount Vernon Middle School, there’s going to be eggs to be hunted by different age groups, that will probably disappear in just a few minutes.
Lisbon’s relaunching its own unique Easter Egg hunt. They’ve worked with the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development group as to not directly compete with that hunt, but offer something the community has asked them to provide once again.
All of these events come about because of the work of dedicated volunteers and helpers to make them reality, of planning behind the scenes well before they happen. Again, it’s something we should promote.
