The Mount Vernon-Lisbon girls soccer squad kicked off their 2022 season Tuesday, April 5, at home with an 0-2 loss to the visiting Center Point-Urbana Stormin’ Pointers.
“Offensively, we put up some shots on goal, but not quality chances,” evaluated head coach Jenna Hindman.
Hindman identified a couple of shortcomings, which she said her team is already working on.
“CPU did a good job of keeping us further away or from getting a good strike, so we have been working on creating better chances,” she said.
“Defensively, we let them play through a little too easy, so we have been working on staying compact, preventing the through ball, and keeping the team in a more difficult area of the field to score,” said Hindman.
CPU improved to 1-1 with the win, while MV-L now have an 0-1 record. The Stormin’ Pointers have a 7-1 advantage in clashes with the joint team dating back to 2011.
