The City of Mount Vernon will be looking at a request for proposal for a new website for the City.
City administrator Chris Nosbisch said the goal is to have the new website up and ready within the next year.
“Our website is old and cumbersome,” Nosbisch said. “It’s easy to use in some regards, but more difficult to use in others.”
Council member Debra Herrmann said hopes the new website will allow more integration with social media to share important items to citizens as well as have more cybersecurity on the site, especially if the site will be handling payments for water bills.
Nosbisch said one of his concerns is the accessibility and ease of use of any website for his staff, or training to get them comfortable using the site. A bid for the new project will go out in the coming weeks.
