Mount Vernon had 20 Division I ratings at state speech contest at Grinnell Saturday, March 12.
“We’ve had some superlative performances today, a few happy tears, lots of high-quality performances, and immense pride from the coaches,” said head individual speech coach Tawnua Tenley when announcing the results of Saturday’s contest.
All-State nominations were not announced as of press time.
Earning division I ratings included: Lydia Benesh in acting and spontaneous speaking, Sierra Snyder in spontaneous speaking, Audrey Tucker in after dinner speaking, Ellie Barkalow in solo musical theatre, Natalie Spinsby in prose and acting, Milo Olinger in acting and after dinner speaking, Skyler Rodman in solo musical theatre, Aden Grudzinski in storytelling and after dinner speaking, Kylie Pyatt in literary program, Ashlynn Carter Shook in literary program, Ben Johnson in original oratory, Ali Ott in poetry and original oratory, Michael Briesemeister in prose, Tyler Panos in solo musical theatre and Dallas Olberding in poetry.
