In Iowa we have always taken books, libraries, and literacy very seriously. So, when I tell you that we have a state-supported program called Iowa Center for the Book, I know you won’t be surprised.
What may surprise you is that this organization is the driving force behind the very popular statewide library program All Iowa Reads. All Iowa Reads is a library-sponsored program that encourages all Iowans to read, discuss, and enjoy a single book over the course of one year.
Though it is only November, the 2022 title has just been announced. It is The Butterfly Effect by Rachel Mans McKenny. McKenny’s debut novel takes place in Ames, Iowa with themes of family, loss, and second chances. Cole Library has a copy of the book and audio book available for patrons. It is also available on BRIDGES and Hoopla as an eBook or audiobook.
There are several books with the same title so make sure you are getting the correct one. I hope you will read the book, encourage someone else to do the same, and join the discussion.
