Donald Edward (Skipp) Killen, passed away peacefully Oct. 20, 2021 in Hot Springs, Ark. He was born in Albert Lea, Minn. May 20, 1929 and married Audrey Elaine Killen Aug. 17, 1957. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1949 and served in Korea through 1952. Skipp attended the University of Iowa and was on the university’s wrestling team.
Following college, Skipp began his career as an insurance agent, specializing in casualty and property lines with North America Insurance Company in Des Moines. In 1965, he became the marketing manager for the State of Neb. In 1971, Skipp and his family moved to Lincoln, Neb. where he became a partner in a local insurance agency and was appointed president in 1981.
Upon retirement, Skipp and Elaine moved to Hot Springs Village, Ark. where he worked at the Ponce de Leon Golf Club for a number of years as a course marshal.
Survivors are son and daughter-in-law, David and Kimberly Killen of Blanco, Tex. and grandsons, Jack Killen of Houston, Tex., and Mark Killen, of Fort Worth, Tex.
Skipp will be remembered by his family and friends as a giving man, a friend to all, a devoted Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan, long-time volunteer for competitive swimming, and an avid fisherman.
