Evelyn Kay Carl was born Sept. 27, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to Graham and Katie Carl of Mount Vernon. When she learned Evie was coming home, her sister, Anya, who is not quite three, is quoted as saying “Yeah! Now I get to love her!” . Being born at UIHC already qualifies Evie (rhymes with Stevie) as a Hawkeye. She joins her parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents, who all met while attending the University of Iowa.
Her lucky grandparents are Jan Scharnberg and Joel Carl of Mount Vernon and Teresa and Guy Frank of Okoboji. Millie Scharnberg of Spencer and Jim Frank of South Sioux City, Nebraska are her great-grandparents.
