Women’s soccer take road losses
Cornell’s women’s soccer team was on the short end of the scoreboard in consecutive matches during a challenging weekend road trip in Wisconsin.
The Rams dropped a 3-1 decision to NAIA’s Viterbo Saturday, Sept. 11, in Lacrosse, Wis. Cornell was then edged 1-0 on Sunday, Sept. 12, at undefeated UW-Stout.
Sophomore Sanne Croes provided the lone goal for Cornell’s attack, scoring unassisted at the 82-minute mark against Viterbo (4-2). The V-Hawks scored all three of their goals in the opening 21 minutes of the contest.
Sam O’Brien attempted three of Cornell’s six shots. Goalkeeper Elise Thomason-Larsen collected seven saves over 60 minutes.
Thomason-Larsen went the distance in goal against UW-Stout and recorded eight saves while facing 15 shots from the home team.
Cornell finished with eight total shots, getting two each from Elise Hermiston, Kylie Hard and O’Brien.
The Rams are back in action Saturday, Sept. 18, for a 2 p.m. Bremner Cup match at home against rival Coe. Cornell holds a 2-1 lead in the 2021-22 Bremner Cup All-Sport Series.
