The Linn County Treasurer’s Office announced Monday it will close to walk-in customers beginning Aug. 31, until further notice due to a staffing shortage caused by COVID-19 positive cases and exposures. The office will reopen when staffing levels are adequate for operations to be open to the public. The treasurer’s office will continue processing transactions received through the mail, drop box, and email and responding to the heavy volume of phone calls as staffing levels allow.
A white drop box is available outside the Public Service Center in Cedar Rapids for anyone who needs to drop off payments, vehicle registration renewals, or other paperwork. Vehicle registration renewals and property taxes can be paid online at www.iowataxandtags.org.
