Lisbon wrestler Wyatt Smith has competed in over 50 matches this spring and summer.
Smith became an All-American wrestler when he placed fourth at Folkstyle Nationals at 285 pounds this spring. He also competed in the 16U Nationals Duals competing in both Freestyle and Greco Roman finishing with a 14-3 record.
Smith placed third at State Freestyle and won a state title in Greco-Roman which qualified him for the 2021 US Marine Corps 16U National Championships held in Fargo, N. D., July 17-23. He competed in the Freestyle Nationals, but was short of placing.
In the Greco competition, Smith became an All-American placing sixth at 285. Smith becomes only the 12th wrestler in Lisbon history to place at this prestigious tournament. Smith will be a junior this fall at Lisbon and will be one of the top 285 pounders in the state.
