The Open4Business Small Business Economic Development Contest gives businesses located within a state-designated Main Street District the opportunity to compete for a chance to win up to $28,000 in grants funds.
An initial contest took place earlier this summer, which earned Josh and Olivia Randall from Bauman & Co. $8,000 and the opportunity to compete live at the Englert Theater against four other businesses from across the state for a grand prize of $20,000 more to enhance their business.
The public is invited to attend this free event, scheduled for Monday, Aug. 2 at 5 p.m. Questions may be directed to Joe Jennison at 319-210-9935, cell.
Mount Vernon small businesses have been very successful in this contest over the years with now six $8,000 winners in seven years.
Past winners include The Perfect Blend, 2015; One Mission Fundraising, 2016; The Bijou Theater, 2017; Fuel Art & Espresso, 2018; and Blooming Acres, 2019, and now Bauman & Co. in 2021.
