Lisbon returns Kamberling to city council
November 09, 2017
Stephanie Kamberling was elected to the Lisbon City Council, a result that surprised Kamberling herself.
Kamberling received the highest number of write-in votes in the Nov. 7 municipal election to win one of three seats up on the Lisbon City Council. Incumbents Nathan Smith and Travis Jubeck were both reelected.
Smith received 95 votes, Jubeck 91 and Kamberling 22, according to unofficial results from the polling station.
There were three seats up for election and two names on the ballot.
Current city council member Joe Nelson did not file to be on the ballot. He received the second highest number of write-ins votes with 11.
More than 20 different names were written in.
Kamberling, who was on the city council from 2006 to 209 did not mount a campaign and said she had no idea that people were writing in her name. She said she is ready to serve.
Lisbon has a five-member city council. Terms are four years. Seats held by Doug O'Connor and John Bardsley will be up for election in 2019.
